Overview

AI Query Extractor ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use our Chrome extension.

Single Purpose: The sole purpose of this extension is to capture and extract search queries that AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) perform when using their web search features.

1. Data Collection

We collect the following types of data:

AI Search Queries: We strictly identify and collect ONLY the text of search queries generated by AI agents (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) when they browse the web. We do NOT collect your personal input prompts or conversation history.
Account Information (Optional): If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address for authentication.
Technical Data: We collect your IP address and a unique device identifier (UUID) to manage subscription limits and prevent abuse.

            What we do NOT collect:
            We do NOT collect your web browsing history.
We do NOT collect your personal search queries on Google, Bing, etc.
We do NOT collect credentials, passwords, or financial information (except what is handled securely
                    by Stripe for payments).

        

2. Data Usage

The collected information is used for the following specific purposes:

Core Functionality: To extract and display the search queries made by AI models.
Authentication & Sync: To sync your captured queries across devices (if signed in).
Service Integrity: To enforce rate limits for free tier users and prevent abuse of our service.

Permissions Justification

The extension requires specific permissions to function:

Debugger: This permission is strictly used to monitor network traffic only on the supported AI platform domains (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, perplexity.ai). It is necessary to identify when the AI performs a "web search" network request so we can extract the query. We do not use it for any other purpose.
Storage: To save your extracted queries locally on your device.

3. Data Storage

Local Storage: All extracted queries are stored locally in your browser using the chrome.storage API.
Cloud Storage (Encrypted): If you sign in, your queries are synced to Google Firestore. All queries are encrypted on the client-side before being sent to the cloud. We cannot read your queries.
Security: We use industry-standard encryption (AES-GCM) and secure connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission.

4. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to third parties.

Data is shared only with trusted service providers necessary for operation:

Google Firebase: Used for secure authentication and encrypted database hosting.
Stripe: Used for secure payment processing (we do not process payment data directly).

User Rights and Control

Access & Delete: You can view and permanently delete all your stored queries via the extension interface at any time.
Uninstall: Uninstalling the extension removes all local data immediately.
Opt-out: You can use the extension without creating an account (Guest Mode) to keep data strictly local.
